Credit Assistant

Nortrux Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Credit Assistant to join our Administration Department in Edmonton. The Credit Assistant will play a crucial role in maintaining our positive cash flow, managing customer accounts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

​

Position Purpose:

As a Credit Assistant at Nortrux Inc., you will:

  • Operate within the rules, policies, and procedures outlined in the Nortrux Quality and Human Resources/Safety manuals.

  • Collaborate with Nortrux customers, employees, and upper management to maintain positive cash flow.

  • Utilize your creativity, skills, experience, and training to locate customers, overcome objections to payment, negotiate payment arrangements, and accurately record information in the CDK system.

  • Follow up on left messages and broken arrangements to establish new payment agreements and document them in CDK.

  • Identify problem accounts and escalate them to the Credit Manager for resolution.

​

Key Responsibilities

  •  Understanding and adhering to all applicable Quality and Human Resources Policies and Procedures.

  • Providing timely credit approvals (overrides) for parts and services departments at all branches.

  • Actively following up on past-due accounts, recording customer contact, and managing payment commitments.

  • Diarizing payment commitments and ensuring follow-up when commitments are not met.

  • Escalating problem customer accounts to the Credit Manager for resolution.

  • Attending internal credit meetings and industry credit group meetings.

  • Monitoring and addressing outstanding items on MV Preferred customer accounts.

  • Clearing Nortrux promotion accounts at month-end.

  • Filing Garage Keepers' Liens in the absence of the Credit Manager.

  • Setting up various accounts in the CDK system.

  • Monitoring MV Preferred customer accounts and taking action to clear invoices.

  • Processing customer credit card payments and maintaining backups.

  • Preparing finance charge write-offs twice monthly.

  • Creating customer files and updating them with necessary documentation

  • Meeting with the credit manager weekly to go over accounts

  • Monitoring MVP disputes and distributing them to the associated branches

  • Preparing month-end journal vouchers to clear internal sales and promotion accounts.

  • Setting up customers in CDK Portal or preparing physical statements.

  • Ensuring customers receive weekly updates on outstanding balances and providing invoices when necessary.

  • Managing payments on liened invoices and discharging liens when paid.

  • Handling returns and write-offs for customer credits.

  • Preparing customer handwrites as necessary.

Qualifications

  •  2-5 years of credit and collection experience, preferably within a dealership setting (asset but not required).

  • Credit and collection training.

  • A commitment to ongoing training and skill enhancement through courses or seminars.

  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to build and maintain customer goodwill.

  • A friendly nature combined with assertiveness in negotiations.

  • The ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • Computer and keyboarding skills, including experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, and CDK.

POSITION SUMMARY

Nortrux Inc. is a full-service dealership specializing in Mack Trucks, with locations throughout north-central Alberta. Our core business is the sales and service of Class 6, 7, and 8 trucks; however, our service departments support all makes and a wide range of customers and equipment.

Reporting to the Service Manager and Shop Foreman, Heavy Duty Technicians are responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and related equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of mechanical, electrical, electronic, powertrain, and emissions systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, overhaul, and repair heavy-duty trucks

  • Diagnose and repair powertrain, emissions, electrical, electronic, and related vehicle systems

  • Use diagnostic software and equipment to identify and resolve problems

  • Complete accurate and detailed service reports

  • Communicate repair status and additional repair requirements with the Shop Foreman

  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to obtain required components

  • Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

  • Participate in manufacturer, industry, and apprenticeship training

Journeyman Technicians:

Apprentice Technicians:

Nortrux is growing our sales presence in Northern Alberta and is looking for a driven Sales Representative to join our Grande Prairie team. This is a field-focused sales position for someone who wants to build a territory, develop long-term customer relationships, and sell one of the most recognized names in the heavy-truck industry — Mack Trucks.

THE ROLE

As a Mack Truck Sales Representative, you will be responsible for developing new business while managing and growing existing customer relationships throughout Grande Prairie and the surrounding Northern Alberta market. You will spend your time where the business is — in front of customers, visiting fleets, jobsites, contractors, and transportation companies.

​

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sell new Mack Trucks and pre-owned commercial equipment

  • Prospect and develop new customers throughout your territory

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Branch Manager and Shop Foreman, the Apprentice Truck and Transport Mechanic will be required to perform diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty trucks and in all areas of on-highway vehicles (including both towed and self-propelled). The current Grande Prairie facility’s operating hours are Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:30 pm. Technicians may/will be required to work shift work, evenings, and weekends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, and repair of various components of a variety of heavy-duty trucks equipped with diesel engines and automatic or manual transmissions.

  • Requisition parts, materials and equipment as needed.

  • Complete detailed, clear, and concise work order service reports.

  • Maintain order, cleanliness, work output and safe working conditions in individual and shared workspaces.

  • Comply with Company Health & Safety Program, Occupational Health & Safety Legislation and any other municipal, provincial, or federal legislation as it applies to this dealership.

  • Communicate with the Shop Foreman immediately if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.

  • Communicate with the parts department efficiently to obtain needed parts. Know all the required parts that will be needed to complete the job assigned. Work with the parts department and their staff to best serve the customer.

  • Road test vehicles when required (if licensed) or refer to the designated test technician.

  • Participate in company and manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.

  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the Shop Foreman.

  • Keeps shop area neat, clean, and safe. Reports any safety concerns to the Shop Foreman immediately.

  • Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, provincial, and local regulations, such as

hazardous waste disposal, etc.

​

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have own tools. Experience with Class 6- 8 trucks is considered an asset.

  • Must have a valid class 5 driver’s license, Class 3 with a Q endorsement would be considered an asset.

  • Strong ability to understand and effectively use computer equipment including laptops for diagnostics Heavy Duty Trucks. An understanding and experience with Premium Tech Tool would be considered an asset.

  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment safely.

  • Ability to follow the direction of a direct supervision.

  • Must work well with others and be able to adjust to multiple settings and personalities.

  • Proficient in planning workload in a time-efficient manner.

  • Must be able to present yourself in a positive, professional manner to colleagues and customers.

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Parts Manager, the Parts Technician helps customers and service technicians identify, source, and obtain the correct parts. This role includes parts sales, purchasing, inventory control, and support for the daily operation of the parts department. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service, manage competing requests, and help guide less experienced team members.

​

This is a permanent, full-time position scheduled Monday to Friday, with participation in a rotating on-call schedule.

​

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist customers and service technicians in identifying the correct parts using catalogues, diagrams, specifications, and vehicle or equipment information.

  • Prepare accurate quotes and orders, confirm pricing and availability, and communicate expected delivery times.

  • Source parts from approved suppliers, comparing availability, pricing, and delivery timelines to meet customer and shop needs.

  • Follow up on outstanding quotes, backorders, and special orders, keeping customers and service staff informed of changes or delays.

  • Recommend related parts and supplies needed to complete repairs or meet customer requirements.

  • Respond professionally and promptly to inquiries in person, by phone, and by email.

  • Receive and inspect parts, verify shipments against purchase orders and packing slips, and address discrepancies.

  • Label, store, pick, and issue parts accurately for customer orders and service work orders.

  • Process returns, cores, warranty parts, and credits according to company procedures.

  • Assist with cycle counts, investigate stock discrepancies, and maintain accurate records in the parts management system.

  • Help prioritize requests and support the smooth daily operation of the parts department.

  • Share product knowledge, help train less experienced team members, and assist the Parts Manager with customer and operational issues.

  • Identify stock shortages, frequently requested parts, and opportunities to improve customer service or inventory processes.

  • Maintain an organized work area and follow company policies and safe work procedures.

  • Stay current with product information, technical bulletins, and supplier updates.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Journeyperson Parts Technician certification.

  • Experience identifying, sourcing, selling, and managing parts.

  • Strong knowledge of parts catalogues, supplier ordering, and inventory procedures.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and coworkers.

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and follow orders through to completion.

  • Ability to work independently, contribute to a team, and support the development of less experienced staff.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams, and the ability to use parts and inventory management software.
